Special Seminar & Activity for First-Year Students on Environmental Awareness

Today, the College of Pharmacy hosted an engaging special seminar and activity focused on environmental care and awareness. Under the theme “Say No to Plastic Bottles,” Prof. Dr. Bushra, in collaboration with the Guidance Committee, organized this initiative for all first-year students.

The event took place in the seminar hall on Sunday, April 27, 2025, with students participating in three designated time slots:

• Group 1: 9:30 – 10:30
• Group 2: 10:30 – 11:30
• Group 3: 11:30 – 12:30

In addition to our first-year students, esteemed faculty members were also warmly invited to join any of the sessions.

ئەمڕۆ سێمینار و چالاکی تایبەت بە خوێندکاران بە ناونیشانی ” نا بۆ بوتڵە پلاستیکییەکان” (Say No to Plastic Bottles)” ئەنجامدرا لەلایەن پرۆفیسۆر دکتۆرە بوشرا و مامۆستایانی ڕێنیشاندەر، چالاکیەکە پێکهاتبوو لە سیمنار و  پێشکەشکردنی بتڵی دووبارە بەکارهاتووەی ئاو بە خوێندکارانی قۆناغی یەکەم. شایەنی باسە ستافی ئەکادیمیش بەشدار بون لەم چالاکیەدا. هیوای سەرکەوتن بۆ پرۆفیسۆر دکتۆرە بوشرا  ومامۆستایانی ڕێنێشاندەر و خوێندکاران دەخوازین، هیوادارین نمونەی ئەم کاروچالاکیانە زۆربێت.

A seminar was conducted by the College Dean and Dr. Khalid Tayeb, focusing on testing/examination methods, the challenges faced by teachers, students, and examination committees, and solutions through the application of technology and global programs.

ئەنجامدانی سیمینارێک لە لایەن بەڕێزان ڕاگری کۆلێج و د. خالید طیب سەبارەت بەشێوازی تاقیکردنەوەو کێشەکانی مامۆستاو خوێندکارو لیژنەی تاقیکردنەوەو چارەسەر کردنیان بەسوود وەرگرتن لە بەکارهێنانی تەکنەلۆجیاو بەرنامە جیهانیەکان.

The College of Pharmacy, University of Sulaimani, hosted a seminar titled “The Nature of Scientific Knowledge”, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Kawa Ahmed Obeid. The event attracted faculty, offering insights into the philosophical foundations of science. Dr. Kawa explored the evolution of scientific thought, emphasizing the role of cultural and sociological factors in shaping scientific knowledge. Discussions highlighted key concepts such as paradigm shifts and the complexities of scientific objectivity. Participants praised the seminar for its engaging dialogue and thought-provoking content.

The College of Pharmacy at the University of Sulaimani hosted a beneficial seminar entitled “Guidelines to Write a Graduation Project” on November 28th. The session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Tavga Ahmed in the College’s Seminar Hall at 12:00 PM.

The seminar, which targeted newly appointed academics and college staff members, provided valuable insights into the proper methods and requirements for supervising and guiding student graduation projects.

This initiative reflects the College’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards and supporting both faculty and students in the research process.

The College of Pharmacy conducted a seminar titled “Role of Neuromuscular Ultrasound in Assessment of Nerve and Muscle Disorders” on May 30, 2024. The seminar was presented by Dr. Hiwa Shafiq Naqmiq, who explored the valuable role of neuromuscular ultrasound. This non-invasive imaging technique provides real-time visualisation of the peripheral nervous system and musculoskeletal structures. Dr. Hiwa discussed how this technique enables physicians to diagnose and monitor various neuromuscular conditions effectively and its applications in guiding interventional procedures, monitoring disease progression, complementing electrodiagnostic studies, and advancing research and education. Attendees gained insights into how the evolving technology of neuromuscular ultrasound is expected to improve patient care and outcomes in neuromuscular medicine.

Assistant lecturer Karmand Salih presented a captivating seminar titled “Chemoprotective Efficacy of Thymoquinone in Chemically-induced Urinary Bladder Carcinogenesis in Rats” at the College of Pharmacy. During the presentation, Karmand shared insights from his Master’s research, which centred around investigating the potential chemoprotective effects of thymoquinone in preventing chemically induced urinary bladder cancer in rats.

He discussed the rationale behind the study, the experimental design, and the innovative techniques employed to evaluate the efficacy of thymoquinone in mitigating the development of bladder carcinogenesis. He highlighted the challenges encountered during the research process and the strategies adopted to overcome them.

The seminar provided a platform for knowledge exchange and stimulated insightful discussions among the attendees and academic staff members. Participants gained valuable insights into the complexities of cancer research and the potential therapeutic applications of natural compounds like thymoquinone.

During the presentation, Dr. Necherwan shared insights from his Master’s research, which focused on designing, synthesizing, and evaluating heterocyclic compounds that exhibit promising antimicrobial properties. He discussed the motivations behind the research, the challenges faced, and the innovative approaches employed to overcome them.
