The Department of Clinical Biochemistry was established in 2008. The Department of Biochemistry and Clinical Chemistry at the College of Pharmacy, University of Sulaimani, is a multidisciplinary research and teaching department focusing on the study of the chemical processes that occur in living organisms. The department provides educational programs that provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to understand the biochemical basis of health and disease. Students have opportunities to participate in research projects supervised by faculty members. The department has excellent research and teaching facilities, including state-of-the-art laboratory and classroom spaces. The goal of the department is to develop students as professionals who can use their knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on society.

To prepare competent graduates with outstanding capabilities that help them understand the biochemical basics of biological processes inside the human body, both in sickness and disease, and to pursue scientific research in all medical domains.
The method of study in our department depends on various tools such as lectures, practical sessions, hospital and community pharmacy visits, case presentations, and reports. The assessment is achieved via two mid-term exams, final exams, essays, and reports.
The language of instruction at the Biochemistry and Clinical Chemistry Department is English for all courses.
